Should we really warm up before our workouts? Yes!
There are many benefits to warming up before exercise below are just a few:
- Increase body temperature
- Increase blood flow to working muscles
- Mentally prepare for workout to come.
- Decrease risk of injury
- Increase ability to perform
We get it. I’m telling you, we do. You should see all of us coaches preparing for our workouts. We don’t exactly love warming up either. We want to get right to the workout, just like you might. But we stick it out. We know that the better we get warmed up the better our workout will be. This is why we do our best to mix in those silly games for you in classes, they help make it more fun and create PLENTY of laughs for us all.
How long should your warm up last? That changes from day to day. Generally speaking, the more intense the training session the longer the warm up should be.
That’s right. That means the next time we hit a lactic tolerance workout like Fran it would be in our best interest to get sweaty during the warm up! Your body has a better understanding of what’s ahead and will perform better.
